The UTA Department of Mathematics along with the UTA College of Science, the UTA Fort Worth Center, the Rotary Club of Fort Worth, and the Riverside Middle School will be organizing a Math and Science Retreat for 104 students from the Riverside Middle School of Fort Worth Independent School District. There will be 26 sixth graders, 26 seventh graders, and 52 eight graders participating in the Math and Science Retreat activities. The Math and Science Retreat will take place during 10 am-2 pm on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at the UT Arlington Fort Worth Center. The rooms for the activities are indicated on the floor plan for the UT Arlington Fort Worth Center.

The goal of the Math and Science Retreat is to involve the middle school students in various mathematical activities, to encourage them to study mathematics at higher levels, to show them the importance of mathematics, and to encourage them to attend college after graduating from high school.

This is a joint effort by the Rotary Club of Fort Worth, the Riverside Middle School, the UTA President's Office, the UTA Science Dean's Office, the UTA Fort Worth Center, and the UTA Mathematics Department.
